This weekend in Atlanta we had three fighters compete in the GBAMMA event at the Olympic Horse Park. Two of the three were victorious, but all three put on a good show. Here's how it went down.
George Ansloan defeated his opponenet via unanimous decision. It was a complete domination. Early in the 1st round George landed a brutal leg kick that took the fight out of his opponent. He did not want to stand and trade after that so he clinched every opportunity he got, which was disastrous for him. George dominated with strikes in the clinch, scored five takedowns including two Matt Hughes style powerbomb slams, and schooled him in some Combat Athletix Jiu-Jitsu on the ground. This was an excellent display of Mixed Martial Arts with and emphasis on the "Arts." Job well done George on pushing his record to 2-1.
George Reagan made his debut amateur MMA fight. He and his opponent came out with the intent of knocking the each other out. None of which succeeded so George resulted to plan-b, submission. It is common knowledge around the gym that George is a great striker. He did everything he could to keep the fight standing but his opponent was eager to get it to the ground so George obliged him. George scored the takedown, mounted him, ground and punded him, locked in an armbar, transitioned to triangle choke and ended the fight ten seconds before the end of the first round. 1-0 submission victory on his debut, not bad.
Michael came out cool and calm and his opponent came after him like a storm. Mike took a couple of good shots but fired and and establish a Thai clinch and did what he does best. Not wanting to recieve any more punishment in the clinch his opponent took him down, but after seeing what happened to the last guys who went to the ground with us he decided to not stay there and immediately stood up. This happened five times in the first round. The last time Mike was standed his opponent pounced and caught him off guard with a head kick and sent him down but not out scoring a TKO due to ref stoppage. Mike fought valiantly and wanted to continue but once the ref says you're done, you're done. Great job Mike. Keep your head up and we'll get it next time.
Farewell all and until next time, Peace out homies.

Coming down to the last minute details for the fights this weekend. All three fighters are 100% locked, 99% loaded. This is George Ansloan's third fight. He is fighting a pretty good striker who previously fought one of our guys a few months back. We have a game plan set for him and if all goes well George will be able to execute properly and come out on top with the W. As we all know, this is MMA and anthing can happen, but we are confident in George's abilities and believe he will fair well, provided the game plan is followed. It's not about luck, it's about training. George is a very well rounded fighter and can handle himself no matter where the fight goes. If you are reading this blog and you know George then you know where he fights best. If you are his opponent and you are reading this blog, too bad, I'm not telling.
George Ragan is a beast! This is his debut MMA fight and it is also his opponents. There is one huge difference though. George Ragan is a beast! Not to toot his horn but he is quickly becoming one of the best fighters on our Fight Team. He is a very motivated team player, gets along with everyone and works hard from the beginning of class til the end. No one he fights will ever be in better shape than him. A beast!
Last but definitely not least we have our quiet giant, Michael Worrock. He is a striker through and through. All I'm saying is if he gets his opponenet in a Thai clinch, lights out. If he hits this guy with one of his hands, lights out. If he kicks this guy with one of his legs, lights out. This guy better be ready because Michael only knows one speed; LOCO. He has amazing Muay Thai, but do not be fooled because Mike spends ample time on the BJJ and wrestling mats also. Whatever happens happens, all I'm saying is I smell, I smell, I smell... KO. Catch up after the fights this weekend for updates. Take care all. Peace.

Fights Next Weekend in the ATL
Next weekend on the date of 10/23/10 we have three of our Fight Team Members stepping up to compete in the GBA MMA Fights. George Ansloan, George Ragan and Michael Worrock will be putting their time on the mat to use in the cage. If you see them around the gym, tell them you are praying for their success or wish them good luck. I know they will do well because first they all possess a great work ethic and second they train at Combat Athletix and that makes them a force to be reckoned with. Make sure to check back after the fights for results. Take care all. Peace.
Back on track.
The Combat Athletix blog is back on track again and will be updated often with new info. Feel free to stop by and check us out. Blog to you later.
